Location

Tall Pines Estates is located just 5 miles South of Thomaston, Georgia, in South Central Upson County, Georgia. Thomaston is the county seat of Upson County, which was established in 1824, and has a current city population of approximately 9,000. The city’s population has remained constant over the last 30 years, but there has been significant growth in the county outside of the city limits. Its proximity to Atlanta and Macon, has made this county a good choice for those wishing to enjoy the amenities of larger cities, but have the more tranquil experience of living and raising their families in the country. Thus, there has been increased demand for estate sized properties and mini-farms through out the county.

The county is also bordered by the Flint River, which is a popular source of recreation for the area. Tall Pines is 7 miles from the Flint River. The property is approximately 60 miles from Atlanta’s Hartfield International Airport, 50 miles from Macon, and 5 miles from Thomaston.

Access

Tall Pines Estates has approximately 4,000 feet of frontage on the four lane US Highway 19, although the best access to the property is from the county maintained Joe Searcy Road, which basically runs through the middle of the property.

Site Description

The Tall Pine Estate topography and soils are typical of this part of Georgia’s Piedmont, with gently rolling to steep terrain that is generally well drained. These soils have a high clay content to them, which make them ideal for forest production, pasture, and suitable for residential construction.

The mix of mature pine and hardwood forests, along with recently cut over acreage, make an excellent environment for recreational hunting. The property has had strong demand from hunters, and it is in an area that has a good reputation for quality deer and turkey. There is a little area of the property devoted to campsites for the hunt club as pictured.
